Affiliate Marketing Tips And Tricks
Rule 1. Don't try to learn everything about affiliate marketing at once. It takes time to learn this business.
Rule 2. Don't promote more than 5-10 offers when first starting out. Don't overwhelm yourself with too many things to do.
Rule 3. Don't buy every available book, ebook, etc. Find one or two good tutorials and learn by doing.
Rule 4. Don't spend all your time on forums. If you have a favorite one, check it out once a day to see if there is anything relevant that you can apply to your business.
Rule 5. Super affiliates do not have any time to waste. Time is money - manage it wisely.
Rule 6. If you find yourself wasting time, maintain a time log for a few days to discover your time-wasting habits and to improve upon your time management skills.
Rule 7. Maintain a regular routine to ensure you are well rested so that you can focus on your work. It's hard to stay focused when you're strungout from lack of sleep.
Rule 8. Maintain good nutrition. Working at the computer all day is draining and it burns calories.
Rule 9. Make a to-do list, but more importantly - keep track of the things you actually accomplished. If you spoke to your accounts manager, write down how long you spoke and the topic of your conversation. Do this with every relevant business event throughout the day. At the end of your workday, review your achievements so that you will have a feeling of accomplishment.
Rule 10. In order to be successful you must be well organized.
Rule 11. Use a regular spiral notebook to write down which affiliate programs you have applied to and joined.
Rule 12. Write down your ideas for new projects, domain names, etc. Separate the sections in your notebook for different topics.
Rule 13. Keep track of your passwords by creating a chart in Word or Excel.
Rule 14. Record the contact information of your affiliate account managers.
Rule 15. Regardless of which system you use, keep your information in one place so that it can be easily retrieved.
Rule 16. Delegate where appropriate. If you are not adept at web design, hire someone else to do this for you. Sites such as eLance or GetAFreelancer are great for finding someone to do one-time tasks for you.
Rule 17. Take advantage of the resources on the Affiliates Institute site. Our Services Marketplace features numerous services to help you with your affiliate business.
Rule 18. Take a break every couple of hours to get some fresh air or to enjoy a light snack. We all get bogged down and feel that if we take a break it will cause delays, but we are actually more productive when we take a break every now and then.
Rule 19. If you work from home and you are able, take a nap every once in a while. It doesn't have to be a daily event, but if you didn't get enough sleep last night, or if you know you're going to stay up late tonight, it's okay to laydown for a few minutes of sleep.
Rule 20. This is optional but it goes a long way in eliminating interruptions. Send your phone calls to voice mail and return calls at your convenience. It's impossible to do your work when your phone is ringing off the hook and you're wasting time engaged in idle chit chat with people who aren't helping you earn more money.
